FAQ’s

We ‘re here to answer your questions

Answer: At Stahl’s Edge, we can use any species of wood you desire, including domestic species such as oak, walnut, maple, and cherry, but we also have access to exotic woods such as wenge, rosewood, black limba and more. Each wood type has its unique characteristics, allowing us to create pieces that cater to different styles and preferences.

Shorter answer is…we use any species.

Answer: Absolutely! We specialize in custom furniture creations. Whether you have a specific design in mind or need assistance in conceptualizing your vision, I am here to bring your dream furniture to life.

It can be useful to start out with some inspiration photos, but we will dive into your style, the size of the space and the surrounding decor to come up with a design that is truly unique to you.

Answer: The time required for custom orders can vary based on complexity and materials. We work closely with you to provide a realistic timeline, typically ranging from several weeks to a few months.

River tables and projects requiring epoxy generally take longer because the curing time is significant. It takes 3-4 weeks for epoxy to fully cure.

Answer: It depends on the project. Sometimes we make the base or legs for a table, other times we source it from a vendor. As a general rule, if you want/need a metal table base then we are going to source it from a vendor. I have relationships with some amazing metal artists who can create the exact type of base you want. And in some instances, we have commissioned a custom base.

Answer: Each piece is unique with unique requirements, but in general I prefer to use natural products such as hard wax and oil mixes rather than anything chemical based like polyurethane or lacquer. I want the natural beauty of the wood to be in the spotlight.

The advantage of using these hard wax and oil finishes is that they offer great protection, but if something does happen it is much easier to repair and refinish your piece. I can simply come in and repair that spot and apply finish to the affected area. If a piece is finished with poly or clear epoxy, you have to completely remove all the finish in order to repair it, and that can be very expensive.

Answer: A lot of people say “stain” when they mean “finish”. Stain is a product designed to change the color of the wood and it is generally not a natural product. If a particular piece needs to be darkened or colored there are pre-finish products that I apply to get the desired color outcome. This is done in concert with a hard wax and oil based finish by the same vendor.

Answer: Yes, we offer shipping via freight. Please contact our customer support team for shipping rates and delivery options to your location. As an example, we recently shipped a small entry table from Ohio to Arizona and it was about $500 in additional cost.

Answer: We have a hassle-free return policy. If you’re not completely satisfied with your purchase, please refer to our dedicated return page for detailed information on the return process and conditions, but we promise to make things right.

Answer: Yes, sustainability is a priority for us. We carefully select and source our materials from responsible suppliers to ensure eco-friendly and ethical practices in our woodworking.

Answer: Proper care and maintenance are essential to prolong the life of our furniture. We provide care instructions with each purchase, and you can also find tips on our website’s care guide, but in general you should avoid using any cleaning sprays or furniture polishes on our furniture. The high end finishes we use can be cleaned with a damp cloth or a specialized cleaner from the same vendor who makes the finish.

Answer: Certainly! Text, Call or Email and we can get the ball rolling.

Typically, I give people a ball park price or estimate just to see if the cost meets their expectations. If it is, then we move forward with a detailed quote and start working through the design process.
